Today is the day

Some less procrastination and some more typing.

Perhaps the reason as to why I procrastinate is due to the feeling of proceeding so slowly with what appears as little progress. When I was first learning iOS development, I used google, ChatGPT, a beginner book that had pictures and chapters with visible "milestones" as I percieved them. However now, the progress is murky to me. Finally understanding how to perform manual backpropagation or the forward pass were great milestones, but they felt to have taken forever to learn.

With Karpathy's course, at least to me, it's as if the backend isn't what excites me, but the final product. I've come to this personal founding of mine when I was going through Data Science from Scratch, published by O'Reilly. Matrixes, matrices, vectors. Foreign knowledge to my app development brain with fancy UI components. It was all pure abstract gibberish that I tried to shove in my brain and hope to remember it in some indefinite later instance. One long night stuck on rereading the same passage, giving up and searching up what it was actually used for, that I understood the meaning of it. Why to understand the logic, why to take the time to find a book and read through it, why to even learn it.

While taking this literal first episode of Karpathy's neural networks series, I seem to have forgotten how to learn in the method best fit for me.

Let's try this again

6:27:50 PM, 1:44:07 / 2:25:51 of building micrograd (I watched a couple minutes)

Slight PyTorch and virtual environment issues...

Building out a neural net

Neurons, Layer. I keep getting little typo bugs that make me lose my mind. unform -> uniform (missing 'i'). Sonnet keeps having to deal with IDE screenshots and having to analyze it for my little mistake.

Great people hidden in the crowds.

A legend.

I think the video is done

Took a good break but it's 9:23:45 PM on July 11th, 2026

Oh neat. Did my twitter post: https://x.com/SpitzTheDev/status/2076164742499258721
